An Avid Reader on Internet Security

I have read several articles regarding how to protect myself from online threats.  I know some people don’t consider their online security, but I am not willing to take chances.   I’ve heard about spyware.  There are many articles about free downloads to help identify it and remove it from your computer.  But I have never seen an article on How to Permanently Block Spyware.  I would think that if this is possible that it would be very attractive to people.  The thought of someone being able to detect my keystrokes or reading my documents is quite unnerving.  If I could find a permanent solution, then I would be thrilled.
