Things I Just Didn’t Know About UV Protection
November 1st, 2009
So who else out there is glancing at the US Federal Trade Commission site? If I didn’t think there was a need for sun protective clothing, I’m convinced now. I guessed that SPF 15 isn’t enough protection, in general, from the harmful rays of the sun. I’m sure most of us know that the damage to our skin is cumulative over time, but I had no idea that its recommended that we apply sunscreen even on CLOUDY days. Like SPF for sunscreens, clothing has a UPF rating, and in order to be considered “sun-protective” the UPF rating should be at least 15 or higher. Seems like 15 is a magic number in the world of skin care.
