The longer mothers breastfed, the more apparent the cardiovascular benefit for them. Women who breastfed for more than a full year had their risk of heart disease reduced by 10 percent according to a recent study. The longer a mother nurses her baby, the better for both of them. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women, so it’s vitally important for us to know what we can do to protect ourselves. We have known for years that breastfeeding is important for babies’ health; we now know that it is just as important for mothers’ health as well.

My daughter is just in the third grade, but there are already different cliques in their class. I know this because my daughter tells me everything that goes on at school. Once, I asked her what “group” she belonged to, and I became really proud of her answer. She said that she tried to be friends with everyone because that’s what God wants her to do. She added that the popular girls want her to sit with them during recess but she doesn’t always say yes. One day, my daughter got invited to the “popular girls” pool party. Since I didn’t want her to miss out on anything, I let her go; we even ordered a Disney charm bracelets for all of them through Barney’s online. When my daughter came home from the party, she admitted that she didn’t enjoy it that much but she thanks me for allowing her to come because it was a different experience.
